Goodwill Industries operates a Sheltered Workshop and Treat Planet, a pet food manufacturer, provides them with a steady source of work.
The people that do the work at Goodwill can be found adding labels, inserting pet treats into bags and then packing those up into case boxes.
Before I created this video I never really gave much thought to how those labels got onto the products, but it’s real, live human beings that bring it all together in the Goodwill Sheltered Workshop.
Creating this video melted my heart.
Getting to know the IDD (ntellectually and Devleopmentally Disabled) people that worked at Goodwill made me remember, that underneath all of our appearances, that people, for the most part, want the same things: friends, family, fun and a place where we can feel productive.
It was a beautiful reminder.
The work of Goodwill and the other sheltered workshops do a truly great thing for their people and Treat Planet is honored to be part of it.
